Middlesbrough Football Club or the Boro, been playing at the Riverside Stadium since August 1995, prior to that the played at both Ayresome Park from1903 to 1995 and Albert Park for the first two years.
Middlesbrough never feels like a Yorkshire derby to me. But I love the fact the Jack Charlton managed them and tried to get them to play in white shirts, compromising on the broad white stripe across the chest. In 2007 an on line vote to let the fans decide whether to bring the strip back, I voted yes and so did a lot of other Lees fans I know.
Leeds have played Middlebrough 89 times in the league 84 time Leeds have won 32 of the ties dawning 24 and loosing 28.
Last season we played the Boro twice both sides wining the home games. In the Championship we have met six times three at Elland Road wining, loosing and drawing once each.
The season so far sees Leeds in eight place on twenty three points and with a positive goal difference of 4! Leeds have scored 22 times and McCormack netting 12 times.
Boro are in 16 place on sixteen points and have scored 25 goals and conceding 24.
Leeds at home at ranked eight wining 47% of the home games and are three on the bounce. Averaging 1.71 goals a game and have not failed to score in the last four home games. The last two home games have seen clean sheets and we concede on average 0.86 goals per home game. Our most common home score is 2-1.
Boro away are ranked twenty-first winning 14% of their games loosing four and drawing twice in the last six fixtures. Boro average 1.14 goals a game away from the Riverside but concede 1.86 goals a game. Their most common away result is a 2-2 draw.
The bookies have this game as Leeds as slight favorites at 11/8. McCormack is favorite to score first at 4/1. With Blackstock second favorite 13/2 skybet also have Hunt at 13/2 not sure what they know!
Leeds most common result at home is a 2-1 win which is 8/1 so with McCormack in a fine vein and Leeds 2-1 will get you 25/1.
So here goes my prediction same as every week Leeds win 3-1 @SkyBet will give you 18-1 and with McCormack to score first @SkyBet will give you 55-1. Blackstock scoring first nets 80/1.
This weeks treble is Rangers, Celtic and Bayern Munich to remiain undefeated.
And what about three of these Newcastle, QPR, Fleetwood, Peterborough, Cambridge and Stranraer to win?
Marchin’ on together
