Wow, this week has been special!
I think I am addicted to endorphins!
- Twice this week I have spent more than three hours exercising!
- I have been into a swimming pool for the first time in about 18 years!
- I had to put new laces in my walking boots!
- I now have lost more weight than I am carrying in the rucksack!
Monday to Friday I have walked 53km in 8hrs and 39mins that’s an improvement on the previous week where I walked 55km which took an hour longer, I have also been swimming twice. This was the first time I’ve been immersed for nearly 20 years! I set out to swim a kilometre and managed that in 45 minutes having to stop every four lengths.
My second swim two days later I swam an extra 100 metres taking a minute longer. The number of lengths I could swim in one go increase to blocks of ten lengths. I have noticed that my eyes were bloody sore after a few lengths, everyone had halos around them and the lights were hazy, so I’ve ordered some goggles!
Saturday was a light exercise day as we went to watch the mighty whites at ‘boro. The coach left from Elland Road at 08:45 for the ridiculously early kick off, I hate Sky! The local police felt that it was appropriate to hold us for an hour on the side of the main road so we did not arrive at the ground too early, its amazing how because you follow football team kettleing, shock and awe, and containment are all acceptable approaches to manage you in case of a risk to public order! Yet on a day off you are their doctors, vets, builders, nurses, bank managers and solicitors, and one of the lads I know their senior officer!
I put my fiver on McCormack to score first and Leeds to win 3-1 @ 110/1 and my favourite ‘boro to win the first half and Leeds the second @ 40/1 – Good money to @skybet again this week.
I have also been swimming again a couple of times and managed to swim a mile, 1600m, and only had to stop once it took me just over an hour! Not sure if that is good or not!
I am back at work after two weeks leave and am busy planning one of the new inspections of a Mental Health Trust for the middle of next month. We had a team training day on Wednesday and it was great to met all of the team leaders, I am so pleased with the team make up the skills and experiences will ensure a very good inspection.
We are at the preparation stage, I have been talking to people who use the services and listening to their experiences of receiving care. I have also interviewed clinical experts who will be joining the inspection team providing clinical support and knowledge. It is great meeting all of these new if that is good or not!
Tomorrow we are off to QPR not sure about 3-1 Leeds McCormack first at 145/1 I would kick myself if I didn’t have a quid on it. I may have another quid on Connor Wickham to score at 5/2 although it will not make me rich!
